About the Program

PAASCU 1.png

Civil Engineering is the professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment. It is the foundation of modern society, encompassing the roads we travel, the systems that provide our clean water, and the buildings that protect our lives. A Civil Engineer translates complex mathematical and scientific principles into the tangible structures and systems that define our world.

The USJ-R Civil Engineering Program emphasizes a "Learning by Doing" approach through state-of-the-art facilities:

  • Surveying Laboratory: Equipped with modern Total Stations and RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) GPS for high-precision topographic mapping and construction layouting.

  • Geotechnical Laboratory: Featuring Standard Penetration Test (SPT) equipment to determine soil consistency and foundational load-bearing capacities.

  • Materials Testing Laboratory: Where students analyze the strength and behavior of concrete, steel, and other construction materials under stress.

  • Hydraulics Laboratory: Focused on fluid mechanics and the design of efficient water distribution and flood control systems.

  • Carpentry & Construction Shop: Providing a hands-on understanding of timber structures, formworks, and practical on-site implementation.

  • Drafting Laboratory: Where students master the fundamentals of technical drawing and spatial visualization.

We integrate industry-leading computational tools to ensure our graduates are globally competitive:

  • Computer-Aided Design (AutoCAD): For precise 2D drafting and 3D modeling.

  • Structural Analysis & Design Software: Including Suite of Softwares for seismic analysis and structural optimization.

  • Other Special Applications: Technical tools for Hydrology modeling, Surveying data processing, and Project Management.

Rooted in the philosophy of "Caritas et Scientia", we anchor technical competence in strong moral foundations by prioritizing Ethical Integrity for public safety, Stewardship through sustainable engineering of our "Common Home," and Augustinian Service which transforms technical expertise into humble support for the community and the marginalized.

The Academic Roadmap

To earn the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, students must successfully complete a rigorous 198-unit curriculum. This path is designed to prepare graduates for the Licensure Examination and for a lifetime of professional practice in the global AEC industry.
